History

Established in 1995, the Rocky Mountain Children’s Choir began as an opportunity for children from diverse backgrounds to interact with one another in a meaningful way. The belief was that the harmony of children could be a uniting force for young people from different ethnic, racial, geographic, and socio-economic backgrounds.  Today the RMCC continues to cultivate its unique mission that combines musical excellence with inclusiveness, diversity, and outreach.

The RMCC has grown to now serve each year over 300 Denver area children, ages 6-18, in its multi-tiered choral music education program. Ten different opportunities are offered to RMCC singers: four training choirs where children learn musicianship skills, sight-singing, and healthy vocal technique; five performing choirs whose focus is on building a strong, diverse repertoire for frequent performances; and a conducting class that strives to develop self-esteem and leadership skills.
